Gurrumul and the Foundation were very proud to be a partner of the Barunga Festival, helping to celebrate its 30th anniversary. There were some special moments – like the presentation to Blek Bala Mujik’s lead singer and songwriter Peter Apaak Miller as a founder of the Festival when he was Principal of Barunga School. As usual Blek Bala Mujik rocked the crowd of several thousand, B2M’s appearance saw all of the young people swarm to the front of stage and legends Sammy Butcher and Neil Murray from Warumpi Band delivered a more quiet and beautiful set of songs, with Peter Garrett slipping on stage to join them.
The crowd loved seeing Gurrumul of course and he gave the audience a taste of his new Gospel album, singing Amazing Grace with Paul Kelly.
